Ballasts, HID Bulbs, Reflectors / Hoods

High Intensity Discharge lighting (HID) belongs to the group of electrical gas-discharge lamps that produce light via an electrical arc within the bulb. The use of HID lighting for growing plants The most common types of these lamps used for growing are Metal-halide (MH) bulbs that produce a more blue light spectrum used for vegetative plant growth, and High Pressure Sodium (HPS) bulbs that produce red spectrums used for plant flowering. The average lifespan of this type of lighting is typically 10,000 cumulative hours per bulb. Looking for an all in one package? We have Grow Light Packages available in 250W, 400W, 600W and 000W options. Or you can browse our wide selection of Ballasts, HPS and MH Bulbs, Reflectors and Hoods. Don’t forget to check our Ballast Reflector Compatibility Chart to make sure your ballast will work with your reflector.

LED Grow Lights

Significant technological advances have been made with LED grow lights in the past few years. LED grow lights allow manufacturers to fine tune the spectrums of the light diodes to match the specific photosynthetic needs of vegetative and flowering plants with pinpoint accuracy. LED grow lights last much longer than the HID bulbs or T5 fluorescent lighting, some with sufficient cooling can last as long as 50,000 hours without needing to be replaced. Fluorescent & T5s

Fluorescent lighting for indoor growing helps seedlings and low-light plants start earlier and grow stronger. They can be used for outdoor greenhouses and light deprivation settings as a source of supplemental lighting to elongate natural vegetative light during the winter months when the days are shorter. Fluorescent T5 lights are generally rated for about 20,000 hours, they run cooler and than HID lighting but slightly warmer than LED grow lights.
